How many events may a student enter? Students may enter up to a total of two combined events (individual or team).
How many students may represent each school in any individual event? Teacher leaders may enter up to two students per school in each individual event
How many teams may a school enter in each team event? Teacher leaders may enter one team for a team event. All team events must have at least two students (and no more than four) per school to qualify.
Can students attend if they are not competing? Yes. Students not competing will be expected to attend the conference sessions. The $35.00 applies to anyone attending the EdRising VA SLC.
Is my parent welcome to watch my competition? Due to the pandemic, no spectators will be permitted.
Can a student enter an event using what s/he did last year if it is improved? No. A student must use original work from the 2021-2022 school year. Anything used in previous years will result in disqualification.
Who can participate in the National Competitive Events? Virginia's first and second place state award recipients in each competition can advance to the national competition.
Are students required to pay dues in order to participate in the Educators Rising VA SLC events? Virginia is NOT charging dues for the 2021-2022 school year. Students must pay $10/year dues to Educators Rising (national) in order to participate in the state and national conference, competitions, student leadership, or Educators Rising Honor Society.
How does Educators Rising VA use the funds raised through registration? Educators Rising VA is a self-sufficient, non-funded CTSO and operates exclusively on funds raised through conference registration; these funds must cover the cost of the conference and any organizational operations incurred. The $35.00 conference registration fee is the lowest of any CTSO in Virginia.
If our Chapter had a credit from the 2020 Educators Rising VA SLC, will this be applied to the 2022 SLC? No. Chapter credit for the 2020 Educators Rising SLC had to be used for the 2021 Educators Rising SLC. Unused funds have been forfeited.
